Live Lessons Year 10
Wednesday 20th May 2020
Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you for your continued support with keeping your child engaged and working hard in our Virtual School, it really is appreciated.
As per the Government guidelines released this week regarding Year 10 students receiving face to face contact, we would like to share with you our plans to ensure that our students receive regular contact with their teachers in readiness for their final GCSE examinations next year.
In addition to the daily lessons within our Virtual School, after half term, we will also begin delivering live lessons to our Year 10 students through Microsoft Teams. Within these ‘live lessons’ students will be able to see and hear their teacher and the PowerPoint or specific resources being shared, and be able to discuss the work and ask questions verbally to ensure that they fully understand the knowledge being shared.
Further to this, all of Year 10 have also been assigned a mentor from the Senior Leadership Team who will have regular live meetings with them to check on their progress and offer support, advice and guidance.
We therefore ask that you encourage your child to access these live lessons and support meetings, and that they are dressed appropriately, conduct themselves professionally and access the work from a safe location. Our staff will record these live sessions for safeguarding purposes, and multiple staff members are part of each Team for further safeguarding of our students.
If you or your child does not feel comfortable using the visual aspect of these lessons, then they can of course just use the audio, but we hope that the face to face contact will give our students some normality to their education within our Virtual School.
If you have questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours Sincerely,
Miss Bryan
Deputy Headteacher
