Dear Parent/Carer

The school has been following guidance from the government and as you will be aware schools throughout England have started to partially reopen. I am writing to you today, to provide information on how we plan to run our transition days.

We know that it is already a very anxious time for yourselves as parents/carers and also for your children making the transition from Primary school to Secondary. So far we have provided our virtual activities and we hope this has helped ease any worries you or your child have had.

I am pleased to inform you that we are able to hold a transition session in school for our future students. These sessions will run during a shorter time than usual, but we feel some time in the building is important to help with their transition. On either Monday 29th June or Tuesday 30th June, each primary school will be allocated one two hour session at Moreton. The information of when your child will be attending is below. Students will need to attend in their primary school uniform. If your child has outgrown their school shoes, please wear other suitable footwear for the weather conditions on the day, as the children will be outdoors for part of the session.

During their time at Moreton they will be introduced to key staff, given a tour of the building and given their transition and subject projects. Students will need to bring a pen with them for their session.

Please be aware that social distancing will be in place at all times when they join us. For the safety of all students, staff and yourselves, please do not escort your child to reception. Students are to be dropped off at the front gate. Where possible, please encourage your child to make their way to school independently. This is to ensure we can manage social distancing rules at all times. There will be a member of staff at the front gate to greet your child. We have grouped primary schools together as far as possible, this way students will be attending the day with familiar faces. When the session has finished, a member of staff will escort the children down to the front gate.

We are aware that as a parent, there may be some questions you would like answering, and usually the transition days would be the opportunity to do this. As an alternative to our usual Transition parents evening, the Headteacher will be holding a live Q&A session via Zoom for our parent and carers. Please send in any questions that you have by e-mail to heavans@aatrust.co.uk by 3.30 pm on the 22nd June.
