Sixth Form 14 day closure
Dear Parents and Carers,
Unfortunately, yesterday a teacher at our Aldersley site tested positive for COVID 19. The teacher and adult contacts are now self- isolating for 14 days. Due to the teacher being in contact with students from Years 12 and 13, we have been advised by Public Health England to close the Sixth Form as a precautionary measure. From 11.30am today all lessons and form time will be virtually taught. Sixth Form will reopen on 21st September at 8.40am.
Those students that were taught by the staff member have been spoken to and advised that if they felt that they were in contact to take a test. Close contact means:
- Direct close contact- face to face contact with an infected individual for any length of time, within 1 metre, including being coughed on, a face to face conversation, or unprotected physical contact;
- Proximity contacts- extended close contact (within 1 to 2 metres for more than 15 minutes) with an infected individual;
- Travelling in a small vehicle
Other year groups are not affected as we have tight bubbles for year groups that are zoned, therefore we do not need to close down other years. You must still send your child into school even if they have a sibling in Sixth form. Attendance is mandatory from September, as the government expects all pupils to attend school. The usual rules will apply, meaning we will be recording attendance and following up on any absences.
Please let us know if you think your children might need extra support when returning to school, such as if they feel anxious about coming back or they’re experiencing bereavement. You can get in touch with Ms Bryan to do this by emailing tbryan@aatrust.co.uk
If you have any questions or concerns about the points we’ve set out above, please contact my PA Miss Garbett and one of my team will endeavour to answer your query. We’re extremely grateful for all the support we’ve received so far from the school community. Please continue to support us by ensuring that your child comes to school at the expected time with a face mask to wear in communal areas and in the corridors.
Our telephone line is very busy at the moment as we are unable to accommodate visitors to reception. You can contact your child’s Head of Year by email using the contact details below
