Proposal to stagger the start and end times of the school day – September 2021
Dear Parents/Carers,
We have all gone through a difficult 12 month period and I would like to thank you for all your support during the pandemic. Throughout, as a school, we have tried to adapt to a new way of working with and supporting our students, and with Spring on its way it is now time for us to look forward to a more positive future. Some of the measures that we put into place last September have proven to be beneficial for all and for this reason I would like to initiate a consultation on the following proposal:
I am proposing that Sixth Form, Years 7, 8 and 9 continue to start the day at 8:40am and end the day at 3:30pm as per our usual timetable. Key Stage 3 enrichment clubs will be available from 3:30pm-4:25pm and also during lunchtime.
Years 10 and 11 continue to start the day at 9.40am and end the day at 4.30pm. I believe that these changes will continue to be beneficial to the school community and will have a positive effect on your child’s education. Our data clearly shows that the new staggered times have increased the punctuality of our KS4 students and it has greatly eased the traffic congestion at the end of the day. Enrichment and Breakfast Club will be available from 8:40am until 9:40am and students will continue to participate in after school matches etc. They will also be able to access enrichment clubs over lunch and tutor time.
Please find below the proposed times for the school day.
Consultation will take place with staff, parents and carers and of course students. Should the changes be approved, they will continue to run from September 2021.
I appreciate that this may affect you, in terms of childcare or working arrangements. For this reason, I would like to invite you to give your feedback by adding your response to the questionnaire that has been sent to you by email and text: – Proposal to stagger the start and end times of the school day from September 2021. This form will be open from Friday 26th March 2021 until Sunday 18th April 2021.
We will release the results of the consultation before June half term and inform you of our intentions.
Yours sincerely,
Ms N Davis
Executive Principal
