Covid Testing and Return to School
The government have announced that:
- The use of bubbles in schools will no longer be required in September.
- Students will no longer need to self-isolate after being in close contact with a positive case.
This means that students will resume movement around the school at the start of the new academic year in September. This will be a considerable change for our current Year 7 students who have only experienced life at Moreton within their bubble zone. To support them they will have:
- Toured the school building
- Been working in form time to prepare for the changes ahead.
All of our students have been incredibly resilient during the pandemic and we are confident that they will tackle the transition out of their bubbles with the same positive attitude that has seen them through the challenges of the last 18 months. We will continue to offer the same high levels of support to all of our students moving forwards. We intend to keep the zoned outside spaces at break and lunch as our students tell us that they prefer this.
Times of the Day
All lessons start at 8.45am but we expect students to be lined up ready to move to their lesson no later than 8.40am.
Lunch for Y7 & 8 is 12.45-1.15pm
Lunch for Y 9, 10 & 11 is 1.15pm-1.45pm
The day ends for Year 7 & 8 at 3.20pm
The day ends for Year 9, 10 & 11 at 3.30pm.
Students must make their way to the allocated zone for them to line up. From here their teachers will collect them and take them to lessons.
The allocated zones are as follows:
Year 7 & 8 – quad and bottom half hard court
Year 9 – top half of hard court
Year 10– playground
Year 11 – rear of sports hall

School Uniform
As a parent, I know that the summer holiday provides us with the challenge of preparing our children for the school year ahead, including the dreaded school uniform shopping! If you are struggling with the cost of school uniform, we are here to support as always. Please contact your child’s Head of Year (details are below) and they will assist you. I’ve provided a copy of the school uniform expectations, please refer to this if your child is insisting that they want you to buy those expensive black trainers and tell you they are OK to wear to school! Our uniform policy remains the same as it has for the last 3 years – black trainers and boots are not allowed; trousers must be loose from the knee down to the ankle.
All uniform and PE kit can be purchased from our supplier https://www.crestedschoolwear.co.uk/
PE Kit
From September pupils will not need to attend school in their PE kit on the day that they have PE. We will be using the changing rooms again to change in to PE kit for the lesson. In light of this we have reviewed the PE kit expectations and have standardised it to remove any confusion and misinterpretation when purchasing PE kit for the next academic year.
All Moreton PE kit must have the school logo on and can be purchased from the supplier. This means that branded sportwear (eg Nike, Adidas) will not be allowed.
There are a small number of compulsory items that your child must have when they return to school in September and then additional optional items for when the weather gets colder in the winter months and lessons remain outside. Please see the attached information.
Timetables – A Fresh Start
Your child will receive a copy of their timetable and the school map on Teams before the end of this school year. This will help them to plan ahead for September and get used to which rooms they will need to move to within the school day.
If your child has any worries about this, please contact their Head of Year for support. If your child has special educational needs they will receive extra support with this from the SEND Department.
Parent Pay
Please remember to add funds to your child’s Parent Pay account for school dinners. Machines will also be back up and running around the school for students to add money to their accounts. New Year 7 students parent/carers will receive letters with their Parent Pay login details in due course.
Goodbyes
We will be saying farewell to Mrs Coward and Miss Bryan at the end of this term. Mrs Coward has taught English with us for 8 years and has given our students a love of literature, we wish her well in her new post. Miss Bryan has been with us for 13 years, the last 2 of these as Deputy Headteacher. She has given so much to Moreton and leaves the school in a better place thanks to her commitment and dedication. We wish her well in her new post at a secondary school in Dudley.
New Beginnings
Planning permission has now been granted and our expansion project will begin during the Autumn Term. We are increasing our student numbers again due to our popularity and will be welcoming 210 new year 7 students in September. The school is now full for the first time in its history and there is a waiting list for places. This reflects the tremendous amount of hard work that staff and students and parents have put in over the last 4 years.
Covid Testing
The government have confirmed that all secondary school students should be offered 2 on-site Lateral flow tests, 3 to 5 days apart, on their return in the autumn term. Following the 2 on-site Lateral flow tests, secondary students should continue to test twice weekly at home until the end of September, when this will be reviewed.
To accommodate this request, we shall stagger the start times and dates of students. They do not need to come in school uniform to take the tests.
