Commonwealth Games Partnership
Dear Parent(s)/Carer(s),
We are delighted to announce that Moreton School have been offered the chance to take part in the Commonwealth Games Partnership. The Commonwealth Games Partnership objectives are to bring the Commonwealth nations together, connecting children and young people in primary, secondary and special schools in the West Midlands with young people in schools across the Commonwealth in an exciting school twinning programme, that will embrace and champion the youth, diversity, humanity and pride of the region and the Commonwealth. It will expand pupils knowledge of global citizenship and skills for life, through a greater understanding of the Commonwealth, its diversity and similarities. As well as developing the pupils understanding of team building, sporting events, expanding their cultural capital, and taking part in creative and Performing Arts workshops and events.
Moreton has been partnered with the Commonwealth country Ghana and will be working alongside the commonwealth athlete, track and field runner Lesley Owusu.
We have selected 10 students to be Moreton’s’ Change makers’ and to represent us at sporting events and will work closely with Lesley and twinned schools in Ghana.
Last week we hosted an informative assembly introducing pupils to Lesley and the goals for the Commonwealth partnership. Where the change makers got chance to share ideas, and get to know Lesley ready to kick off their role within the school.
