Dear Parents and Carers,

I cannot quite believe it is five months since I proudly wrote my first letter to you as Acting Headteacher of Moreton School. At that time, I outlined how honoured I was to be leading our school and to be working with a team of such highly skilled and dedicated professionals. As I come to the end of my time in the role I wanted to publicly thank all our staff for everything they have done to support me personally and to drive Moreton School forward, making the progress we have. I would also like to thank yourselves for the support you have shown as well as your children for continuing to amaze me every day with their manners, ambition, dedication and talent.

As we look forward to 2023, we are excited to welcome our new Headteacher, Mr Dumayne and I personally, along with our Senior Leadership Team and wider staff, very much look forward to working with him to continue the excellent work of our school.

As well as new staff arriving, we are saying goodbye to a number of staff and I know you will want to share with me in wishing them well for the next stage in their careers. Personally, I would like to thank them each for their contribution to Moreton School during their time with us; Mrs Reynolds, Mr Raeside, Mr Hearn, Mr Middleton, Ms Caton, Miss Cox and Miss Johal.

Whilst writing to you, I also wanted to confirm the arrangements for the end of the Autumn Term and the start of the Spring Term which will be as follows:

Friday 16th December 2022: School will close at 12.45 pm and all students will be released for home at this time. Our canteen will be open for those children who wish to collect a lunch to take with them.

Wednesday 4th  January 2023: All children return to school by 8.40 am at the latest for the start of the new term.

The start of the new term, will bring with it the fruition of the remaining building work that has been ongoing throughout 2022. January 2023 will see the opening of six new classrooms in our former gymnasium and this will add to the other improvements which your children have been benefiting from this term.

On behalf of the staff at Moreton School I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a peaceful Christmas break and to wish you the very best for a prosperous new year.

Yours sincerely

Mark Hignett

Acting Headteacher
