Springboard FutureChef Local Winners
Staff from our Food department had the pleasure of taking Keisha and Kiera from Year 11 to Stoke-on-Trent College where they competed in the local final of the Springboard FutureChef competition this week. The girls had to produce a meal for 2 to a strict budget in just 1 hour. This was then judged by 3 chefs who tasted the dishes, scrutinised their costings and also interviewed them, asking questions about their chosen dish and what had inspired their menu choices. They were up against competitors from across the Midlands and I’m delighted to say that Keisha was unanimously selected as the winner and will now progress to the Regional final in February. Keisha will be assigned a professional chef as a mentor who will now work with her to enhance her skills before the next round.
Both girls represented the school exceptionally well and the judges were extremely complimentary on their skills and confidence in the kitchen. In particular Keisha was complemented on her passion for cooking and great use of flavours. Kiera was also commended for executing high level cooking skills such as freshly made pasta and creating a beautiful sauce that they would be proud to serve in their restaurants.
We are extremely proud of the girls and take great pride in sharing their successes with you.
